exoskin---an-open-sourced-space-suit

An open sourced wearable project for space - make a space suit... comfortable (and fashionable) for extra vehicular activities (EVA). And setting a fashion trend. Inspired and created at the NASA Space Apps, 2014.

This project is solving the Space Wearables: Fashion Designer to Astronauts challenge.

Description

Exoskin - an open sourced space suit

What

A spacesuit augmented by embedded electronics to extra vehicular activities (EVA)

How

Using arduino + sensors (and any other COTS wearable available), augment the space suit experience for easier movement, better health and safety. The concept emphasis on modularity and ease of use. A very natural interface is expected to be brought by the sensor network layer - a wearable undergarment - amongst the many layers of garment considered.

As well as the conceptual model, a rapid prototype has been developed.

Who

Stephanie Pau

Jack of all trades (do they really exists?!), tinkerer, creative thinker. I have an arduino and some sensors on hand, raspberry pi too - if you've got any COTS wearable device, feel free to bring them along we have plenty of space in the suit to incorporate everything. Worked on a wearable electronics project about a decade ago before going into the software engineer's trade to sharpen some knifes. Now making a return! Founder of Citizen Inventor.
