Our project is a web application, SpaceBreak, which shares the pictures taken from the ISS in order to delight the users eyes. This platform allows viewers to vote for their favorite picture, to leave comments, to share the photos on social networks or to print them. It has a goal: share the emotion and create the envy to get people interested in space and earth. Space Break, our home, from space Collaboration is powerfull, we build tomorrow today.

This project is solving the Earth Images From Space Station challenge.

Description

The SpaceApps Challenge is a 48 hours mission. We had to launch, run and conclude a project, answering a NASA issue. It is a worldwide project, organized in 40 cities to create the new future with the Internet.

Our project is a web application, SpaceBreak, which shares the pictures taken from the ISS in order to delight the users eyes. This platform, now online, allows viewers to vote for their favorite picture, to leave comments, to share the photos on the social networks or to print them. SpaceBreak has a goal: share the emotion, to create the envy to get people interested in space and earth.

Space Break, our home, from space

As viewers, enjoy, for the first time, extraordinary pictures you have never seen before. Make a journey all over the planet and take your time during your unique space moments, indeed, seize your space breaks.

In our diversified team, we had, 5 developers, one graphic designer and one communication and marketing girl. Our developers were divided into two teams, one the one hand, a codding part to create the visual working. On the other hand, a server part, to create the stocking and application script. We succeed, after 48 hours of hard labour, in creating our web application. As for the graphic designer, he invented the website visuals.

From the developers point of view, this weekend was full of opportunity. The Challenge had a very interesting approach for me, said a key member of the team. Working as a team in a hurry, sharing our knowledges made me understand various aspects of a project. Then, we heard a lot of time that team working was the best part. Moreover, we constantly needed to focus on our goals, be on time, and keep working late at night.

Then, a member said it was a very nice experience with other passionate people. He will keep good memories. Another guy, participating at his first Hackaton was very enthusiastic about the NASA issue, he discovered the Aerospatiale world and he is eager to join a new challenge. All the participants appreciated being surrounding by a professional team. Eventually, the key point of all the members was an enormous thank to the organisers.

What users can do with the application;

  • Vote for their favourite pictures
  • Rate photos
  • Share the photos on social networks
  • Leave comments
  • See pictures taken from the ISS station
  • Follow the ISS trajectory
  • Know the Spaceapps Challenge
  • Get data from the website back office

What do we learn from the weekend? That collaboration is powerful and tomorrow is creating today. We would like to thank Le Node and its organization team.
