electronic-dance-music-meets-science-in-space

Develop a communication strategy for NASA through music events. The idea is to create a crossover between Electronic Dance Music (EDM) and science. EDM is a music genre with followers all over the world, EDM is the music of the XXI century as it is highly technological. Dance Music events attract millions of people worldwide. Dance music lovers are also space enthusiasts and share a great love for everything related with space and technology.

Description

Create Electronic dance music (EDM) events that will help to create astrophysical trends that will help to the visibility of science and NASA projects worldwide. The idea is to make a crossover between music and science that will help to communicate science to a broader audience. The PR opportunities are very interesting. As the project can be used for mutual benefit, to promote astronomy and music, thus penetrating different audiences. EDM is a set of percussive electronic music genres produced primarily for environments centered in dance-based entertainment, such as nightclub settings. The music is largely created for use by disc jockeys and is produced with the intention of it being heard in the context of a continuous DJ set. I propose to create an International event, world tour event powered by NASA. The idea is to design a unique high tech Concert Stage NASA COSMIC STAGE that could be set up anywhere in the world and create a world tour with the best djs and EDM music producers attracting a vast audience and public. The NASA COSMIC STAGE would allow music to be beamed through laser or radar into space and bounce it off the International Space Station. The reflected signals will retain the musical content, but will be distorted and altered in interesting ways. We will explore the distorted reflected signals and attempt to incorporate the signals into new pieces of dance music (create an application for music producers that can send music to space and bounce it back, to use the universe as their music effects table). With the collaboration of visual artists create a light display showing the music waves going into space through a creative light display. Screens set up for the event would then show the deciphered reflected signal coming from space back to earth. During the event it would be interesting to have video stream life from ISS showing the astronauts listening to the music in real time. The NASA COSMIC STAGE could be set up on its own or integrated in other established EDM music festivals. Around the stage there will be NASA information desks, technological gadgets stools and other sources of information to engage the public with the research projects developed by NASA. Marketing space through dance music will reach a wider and younger audience that is likely to attend this type of event. This challenge attempts to create a marketing tool. This entertainment event will attract the attention of the media in a large scale. It will be a collaboration of scientist, engineers, artists and so on. The event will also work as a showcase for NASA projects and products and it will be great for crowd sourcing. The project can also be a way to raise money for NASA through the ticket sale that will be used to support scientific projects. We believe that many artists would be happy to support this event that aims to show the world NASA commitment with its research to benefit all mankind. NASA can also create fruitful partnerships with other business such as cutting edge audio and visual companies in the creation of NASA COSMIC STAGE. The effective diffusion of expert scientific knowledge is critical in today's increasingly commercialised and knowledge-intensive environment. AIMS: - Promote and communicate scientific research to a broader audience in a cool and funky way - Create links between arts and science. - Fundraising - Crowd-sourcing - Create new platforms for promoting NASA applications and products - Establish new partnerships with businesses and other institutions

CONCLUSION Overall, this is a project that can take several angles being it more conceptual or scientific. The creation of events as a celebration of science and its achievements. -
