Can we deflect an asteroid that was on a threatening course with Earth using satellite magnets?

This project is solving the Create Your Own Asteroid Mission challenge.

Description

The metallic asteroids are composed of up to 80% iron and 20% a mixture of nickel, iridium, palladium, platinum, gold, and other precious metals. There are those few that are made up of half silicate and half metallic. If a metallic asteroid is happen to be crossing the path of earth here we calculate the amount of magnetic force we need to deflect the asteroid and conclude whether we can do it or not.
