Ajala is the name of a famous traveler from Nigeria who decided one day to travel African then the world. Ajala’s Travels is a Windows 8 Edugame which features the young Ajala as a young boy on his quest to learn about the world around him. He decides to go all over the world to visit famous historical landmarks. He relies on us, the player, to tell him where on earth he is and help him find his way around the world.

This project is solving the Where on Earth challenge.

The goal of Ajala’s Travels is to be educative and entertaining. This is very important as our goal is to teach kids about the Planet Earth while showcasing the culture of my native land Nigeria.

GAMEPLAY: Edugaming is a cutting-edge way of teaching Africans about concepts they know little about. The game is modelled like a timed Trivia Quiz and as the player progresses, Ajala asks for information concerning the location of a famous landmark. These images come from satellite imagery of that landmark. The aesthetics of the game is targeted at young Nigerians and as a result, the color and animation reflect this. The game features three difficulty levels that determine how long you have to get as many questions correct and earn as many points as possible. The game provides users with step-by-step instructions on how to play it.

CONTINUITY: Although the game is still in its most basic form I intend to add more features to it like the ability to share scores to social networks, a leaderboard to compete against others, better animations, African soundtracks and more. I have also obtained a developer license thanks to Microsoft Nigeria that allows me to publish the game to the Windows Store. I intend to port it to other mobile platforms in the nearest future.
