space-debris---source-of-energy

Our project is about the space debris which is orbiting around the planet earth. It is a problem, which concerns every human being. We can use this garbage by transforming it into energy. By showing you several striking images of space debris in our short presentation, we want to make you think how our future will look like if we don't take any actions concerning this global problem.

This project is solving the Image-ine Earth Yesterday and Today challenge.

Description

Space debris are around 600 000 objects with size around 1 sm³ and more approximately 16 000 objects with size more than 10sm³. Attracted to the Earth they can be used as a power source. For example, the Swedish energetic policy is for buying garbage from different countries and transform it into energy. The country makes it by importing 800 000 tons of waste per year. With this project, we want to draw people's attention into the matter of the subject, with the purpose to make change.

How we will implement our idea? By using NASA space station, on which is situated a capsule with container. It will contain a powerful magnate, which is attracting orbital debris, fragments of collapse, erosion, and clashes of old satellites. When the capacity of the container is full, after previous accurately set coordinates to a location on Earth, special teams are taking the debris from the capsule to the recycle station, where they will be transformed into electric energy. With our idea, we won't only solve the universal matter with space debris, but we actually will reduce the expenses of electricity.
