rovino

It is a robot that can navigate through the rough terrains of Mars. It has a camera that can stream live video back to earth. It also has a arm to hold objects. It can also be manually controlled from earth.

This project is solving the ExoMars Rover is My Robot challenge.

Description

It uses ATMEGA 32U4 Arduino Micro for controlling the rover.

It contains 2 sets of DC geared motors connected in parallel to facilitate locomotion. An additional chain has been attached to increase the grip.

It has a CMOS black and white wireless camera which can stream live video and audio back to earth.

There is an IR range finder. Since the field of view of this camera is limited, it is mounted on a servo motor which rotates the camera sideways. This increases the field of view.

The robot can either be controlled manually from ground station (Earth) or it can also move autonomously to predefined loctaions by detecting obstacles and intelligently avoiding collisions till it reaches its preset destination
