grow-sphere

An easily deployed remote controlled module with protected grow chambers, hydroponic system, Himawari lighting system, CO2 pump and oxygen storage tanks. Features: *Begins production prior to astronaut arrival *Uses filtered light to avoid radiation damage to plants *Grow chambers within weatherized module for better protection and environmental control for plants *Hydroponic pump to provide nutrient rich water to plants *Solar panels and batteries for power *Oxygen storage for later use

This project is solving the Growing Food for a Martian Table challenge.

Description

Problem Statement Design a food supply habitat to withstand the Martian environmental conditions (temperature, radiation, windstorms) and can be controlled and monitored remotely.

Conceptual Design Intended Mission Deployed a remote controlled module with protected grow chambers, hydroponic system, Himawari lighting system, CO2 pump and oxygen storage tanks to meet arriving astronauts

Design Approach Create a shielded and controllable growing environment for newly sprouted plants. Use filtered light to avoid radiation damage to plants. Grow chambers within weatherized module for better protection Hydroponic pump to provide water to plants Solar panels and batteries for power
